Meaning and Purpose:
Set design is another important and helpful pre-production process which allows the producers of a film to understand the kind of space needed for shooting the film as well as the colours, dimensions and styles of props, furniture and anything else included in the frame. It is primarily used to show how something that may appear difficult to film will be accomplished.
Our set was very minimalistic and was constructed in the media room of our school, the room was blacked out with curtains and black paper to ensure it was very dark. We filmed in one corner of the room which gave us a wall to rest our cardboard on, this was very helpful to us at the time as we didnt have a supporting structure to form the base of our box, we only had sheets of cardboard.
I also drew up a larger scale version of the box to show all of the elements required for the filming of the scene. it was very simple as we only required the camera (mounted with a microphone), the phone, actor and cardboard sheets to make this scene work well.
